Your initial meeting is always free. At this meeting, I discuss what I offer in more detail. It is also a great time to become better acquainted with you and your family so I can serve you most effectively. It is important to work with a doula you feel is the perfect match for you. This meeting is a great opportunity to see if you feel you and your family will work well with the services. At this time, you have a chance to ask me any questions or address any concerns you may have about the services.
What is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a physical, emotional, and educational support for a woman and her partner during pregnancy, childbirth, and initial hours postpartum. We help the client and her partner locate any necessary resources, create a birth plan, offer support via comfort measures during labor and delivery, and assist the partner with helping the mother during this amazing time. I carefully guide the partner, offering tips to help in the various situations of labor and birth. Through the first two hours after birth,, I may assist with breastfeeding, bonding, and allow mom and/or her partner the opportunity to address any further questions or concerns. At a later postpartum followup, I allow the mother and her partner a chance to reflect upon their birth experience.
